We went here over the summer last year when we moved here and loved everything but the pizza so we weren't too quick to return. Tonight I'm so glad we gave it a second chance because now I can't wait to go back! We got everything that we loved our previous visit. Started off with the calamari that is perfectly cooked. Tender and lightly battered. You can tell it is freshly cut in house and it is served with their "special sauce" that is unique and oddly addictive. We both continued the evening with salads. I got the small house salad which was a perfect size and their homemade Italian dressing is amazing! My husband being Italian is back home in jersey with their antipasto salad! He said that you can't find many places that put the pickled vegetables on salads like they do up north! He loved it! We also got the must try garlic knots! They are perfectly sized to pop in your mouth with a perfect combination of garlic and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Onto the main event that steered us wrong the initial visit here. We kept it simple for the pizza. We did all mushroom and half with bacon! It came out piping hot! Beautifully cooked! Crispy crust with a nice soft doughy center! Knocked it out of the ball park! I didn't want to stop eating it! The toppings were very generous with fresh cut mushrooms and crisp- sliced quality bacon! By the end of the night Joseph's had redeemed itself as one of our favorite places! Can't forget our server who was so attentive to all of our needs! He was very friendly along with the rest of the staff! Thank you for a wonderful experience! We look forward to going back soon!

We came here with a large group, and the staff did a great job of taking care of us. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza is a must, and they also have great Garlic Knots. I would recommend this place to any fellow Pizza lover.

I stopped into Joseph's after a long day at the beach. It's a small space inside, but they have some tables outside as well. The service was friendly and they offer pizza by the slice. Their pizza is a heavy dough for me, I prefer a lighter crust. They also offer entrees and ice cream as well. I would return and try something different, or if I were really hungry, I would order a slice of pizza again. I would also order a pitcher of beer and snag a table outside and enjoy being at the beach.

I will say that I have eating at a Joseph's for more then 15-20 years now. but, I have never eaten here. I have seen it and past it bye so many times. Today I decided was the day that I stopped in. It's a small place nicely done an all. The wait staff was friendly and gave me everything that I needed to have a pleasant meal. They were there when I needed and no when I didn't want them around. I did go for a pizza but their menu looks really close to the restaurant that I have been to many many times. Downtown on Main Street the original Joseph's. My pie was good the crust was a little thicker then I had wanted. I seem to remember the crust being thinner in town. There was plenty of meat on my pie and the sauce wasn't out of a can like most places. I'm really glad that I stopped in and mad at the sametime. Why didn't I stop before today other then that I'll be back.

When I'm enjoying a romp on the sand and a foray into the ocean off Jax Beach, there's no place I enjoy more after than Joseph's Pizza. The helpful staff and hot owners keep me coming back time and again. You want to go light? Try the Greek salad. Need a nibble to whet your appetite? Look no further than the mozza sticks and stuffed shrooms. Ready to go all in? The meat lovers pizza is the perfect way to cap the day. Good food and good people. What else do you need?

My lasagna treated like rubber tires. The wine was watery tasting. Obviously not the best place for wine, but given it being a small little restaurant i had big hopes for the food.

I had the antipasto platter... Good amount of food, and the bread is very good.... Soft inside and crusty outside, just made fresh. My friend asked for their sample pasta dish which had 3 pasta types. He special requested it to be switched to a white sauce, and they accommodated. Very good tasting, but needed some salt (no problem... Everyone doesn't need salt). The price was very low cost compared to other Italian places I've been. It seems most Italian places overcharge but their prices are what I'd expect an Italian place should be. The waiter was friendly. Both times I've been, I got a seat quickly. But possibly lacks seating during prime times because the restaurant is small.

Best pizza at the beach! I'm never disappointed when I come here. Best NY pizza not in NY.

the server ashley is a terrible server. dont get me wrong the food was amazing its just how she treated me compared to other customers is such a bad way. esp i just moved here and its my first time at this place. PLUS got charged gratuity even tho there's only me. i dont know why. prolly she thought im not going to tip. im a server too but she's the worst server i had in my entire life.

Good pizza/pasta/sub place. Grab a seat outside and enjoy a quick lunch. I had a veggie sub, my husband had the meatball sub. We both loved it!

Pizza was terrible. Soda was watered down. Dropped by for a quick slice. Walked in, no pizza in display, they say go ahead and sit down. Takes 15+ mins to heat up slices that had obviously been pre-made and sitting for a while. Soda was 3/4 water, told the waitress, she brought back another one that was also watered down. Pizza comes out, it was not appetizing to look at. Dove in hoping for the best, the best was no where to be found. Sauce was thin and generic, cheese covering was also anemic. Pepperoni was pepperoni, the only way to screw that up would be if they made it in house. Mushrooms were of the dry type. If your in between going here and some where else, go somewhere else.

We stopped in at Joseph's for dinner , sat outside the service was friendly and quick. The pizza was very good, you have a choice of thick or thin crust usual toppings and a variety of specialty pizzas. They have pizza down to a science they have been doing it since the 50's. Worth the stop if you are in the Jacksonville area. And don't forget to try the garlic knots.

The pizza is completely forgettable and better food can be found nearby. The inside of the restaurant is cluttered with tables and the counter is in an awkward position (you have to weave in between tables and people eating just to get to it), which makes for weird flow. It just feels uncomfortable.

If you want a local pizza place that's not a chain, come here! The pizza is good, beer on tap, and the servers are so nice. Everything is made fresh and to order which means don't come hungry because it takes forever to get your food. It's not a big place, only about 8 tables inside, 3 outside. So, don't come extra hungry because it might be a minute until you get a table. If you're not feeling pizza, their other entrees such as their sandwiches and pasta dishes are large and delish, you can't go wrong. Expect to take those to lunch the next day!

We go here a lot. I think we mostly go here because it's in the neighborhood and the pizza is okay. Nothing special but it's easy.

We had a mother's day brunch here prior to hitting the beach. Anti-Pasto was good. Son loved the pizza, service was SLOOOOOOW and parking was difficult as to be expected on Atlantic Beach. If were down there again, I'd stop in but I wouldn't make a trip out there just for Joseph's.

this review is only for the gelato here. i think they need a better storage system for the gelato because it was looking kinda melty and sad when i got there. I got chocolate covered espresso bean gelato. the taste was pretty good and i loved that there were actual chocolate covered espresso beans inside, but hated that it was already half melted by the time i got it so i felt like i had to scarf if down my face so that i wouldnt just have liquid gelato.

Joseph's is a local staple in Atlantic Beach. It's nice to have an italian alternative to Al's, but I definitely think Joseph's shines in areas outside of pizza. Pizza is a tricky thing, because everyone kind of likes a different style. I don't really like the pizza here...the crust is too thick and crispy for my liking (I prefer Al's). I've been for brunch a couple times and it's so-so. The bottomless mimosas taste like they are made with Sunny D, and to me, the breakfast choices here seem to be more about quantity than quality. There are some unique offerings, though, like the breakfast pizzas. Sitting outside is definitely preferable, because it's located in a good spot. The tables fill up fast, though. I usually come to Joseph's for some other Italian dishes like pasta. They have a wonderful aiola pasta, which is just olive oil and garlic. Their rosa sauce is also delicious on linguine. If you have had the pizza here and aren't crazy about it, I'd recommend returning and ordering a different dish.

The pizza dough has a weird chalky/grainy consistency. The service is weak and the ambiance uninspired. I'm not sure why pizza lovers wouldn't walk around the corner and eat at Al's Pizza

I went there for lunch to grab a few slices. We also got a greek salad. It was pretty good, the staff was courteous and the price was reasonable. Plus it's practically on the beach!

I have been to Joseph's a lot lately. I am travelling to Jacksonville on business, and it is good to find a place that is not too big, with great food. Sitting just off Atlantic, Joseph's doesn't have the crowds of its rival just up the street. I guess the choice is greater there. That is fine with me; the quality is better at Joseph's. They make a good calzone, and I really like their cheesecake. Service is usually good/great, and I love sitting outside watching the weather go by.

We came in for desserts, the chocolate cake was eh and the gelato was about the same. We'll come back for pizza, though!

Good sangria, good garlic bread, good pizza. They accommodated a large group of people (15). The wait staff was very friendly. Pet friendly, several people dining outside had dogs with them. It was walking distance from our hotel, which was very convenient.

WOW, we've been coming here for 3 years and this time, the Service was 2 stars; Cleanliness 2 stars What happened? Lettuce in salad was brown and carrots were dry...We sent it back and although they offered another salad, we declined the offer. We've been here a few times and the food has always been good but not this time. Our 4 stars has dropped to a 2. I make no amends....consistency is how you keep customers coming back. Order the wedding soup. The Pizza is always good.

This place is really bad. Wish I'd read the reviews before I got here. Oceanside location is no excuse for the nasty taste of the food. If I could give 0 stars I would. Service stunk, too.

Great small beach restaurant. Right Across from Ocean One, next to Ragtime on the ocean side. I didn't get the chance to eat here yet, but the Gelato is fantastic! Loved it and now have a craving for it. Go figure.. I will try the food next time.

YUCK! Very dissapointing! Both my husband and I were not at all happy with our food! It all began when they served my red wine at about 90 degrees...then served me a bowl of salad dressing with a about 3 pieces of salad..then my chicken picatta was dry and overcooked and my husbands eggplant parm was just meh!!! He ate 4 bites and was done! We ate at Mezza Luna the night before and it was fantastic! If you want real italian - go there!!!

Nice little Italian place. Not fancy, but a couple tables outside next to the sidewalk as well as indoor seating. The food is priced reasonably. I've had calzones that I couldn't put down (made for a painful walk home) and the pizza is pretty good. I've also been here a few times for gelato alone. Worth a try!

Very underwhelmed...it looks like the food would be better than it was. The calamari came out of a box and comes with ketchup. The pizza was special delivery from Papa John's. The salad was ordinary. Like I have said before...a sprinkle of Feta Cheese does not a Greek salad make! I guess I shouldn't have expected much from Jacksonville. I get off the plane and ask the guy at the he rental car place for a restaurant suggestion and he tells me to go to Joe's Crab Shack. SERIOUSLY! Like it was a big deal. I was waiting for him to ask me if I had ever heard of McDonald's... Not impressed!

Best pizza in the Jacksonville area. Double baked crust and lots of meat options... My mouth is watering just writing this review. They have another location on main street, but I like this one better. Feel free to drop by my other review.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
